Where Basketball Meets Intelligence

SIQ Basketball

A smarter way to train.

SIQ Basketball was founded by former Finnish professional basketball player and computer scientist Harri Hohteri, who saw an opportunity to bring sophisticated performance data directly into the hands of everyday players. The idea began with a simple experiment: attaching hardware to the outside of a basketball and analyzing the information generated with every shot. That early proof of concept evolved into SportIQ and SIQ Basketball, combining Hohteri’s experience on the court with his background in technology to rethink how players measure and improve their shooting. The company traces its roots to Finland and has been developing its smart basketball technology for more than a decade.

The result is the SIQ Smart Basketball, a regulation-size basketball with patented sensor technology embedded inside the ball without affecting its weight or flight. Connected to the SIQ app, it automatically tracks shooting metrics including makes, misses, swishes, shot location and distance, release angle, release time, spin rate, and consistency—turning virtually any hoop into a data-driven training environment without cameras or additional equipment. The technology has also earned FIBA approval, allowing SIQ to deliver advanced shooting analytics while maintaining the feel and performance of a traditional game ball.
